Art

To me, creating is both the means and end to the plague of capitalism that demands consumption and conformity.

The selfless investment in the other, whether it is through a meal, a garden, song, play, is the way we heal and grow.

What our market economy so often devalues is really what we turn to in isolation and sickness and it is what needs prioritization now.

Much like mutual aid that responds to a failure of governmental relief by sourcing in the community, our art can also show us the way. That is what I have learned this past year during the Covid-19 pandemic while painting next to children in my neighborhood at the Maria Sola community garden in the South Bronx.
